Scars occur as a result of a wound caused by an injury or trauma to the body. There are several types of scars and they come in various forms and sizes as well. A scar is usually permanent. Despite that, it can improve over time depending on how severe it is and how it was treated.

Types of Scars

There are different types of scars. Some of them are as follows:

  • Keloid Scars

This type of scar usually forms after an injury. It forms a lump of collagen in the skin which makes it more visible. The lump is a natural response of the body towards healing. This type of scar is reddish in color.

  • Acne Scars

For people who have experienced acne during their teenage years or even beyond, acne scars are one of the most common. This causes a lot of changes to the body since it affects the face’s texture and over-all state. It also affects the self-eyeem of some.

  • Hypertrophic Scars

This can be similar to a Keloid scar but Hypertrophic scars differ in form. They do not extend beyond the actual area affected by the wound.

Does It Fade?

A scar can potentially fade overtime but it will not totally fade away. For instance, a scar caused by running clumsily while playing can be less serious than other scars. A scar like this can be treated with gel or ointment found over-the-counter.

A scar may fade and become unnoticeable if they are treated well so that it does not become an old scar that is very obvious and noisy.

With proper care and enough food and rest, the scars will somehow disappear at first glance. It is important to understand your body’s BMI to check the products that will work best for you and your skin.
